Hooked JC — our favorite seafood spot in Jersey City — has reopened. The BYOB seafood shack is currently offering takeout and delivery from Wednesdays through Sundays. In addition to their epic seafood dishes, Hooked JC has added three additional “ghost kitchens.” The new virtual restaurants all share the same kitchen and include Lit Burger, Green Things, and Comfort Cookery. A handwritten sign outside Hooked JC simply reads, ‘You should eat here.’ Seafood lovers across the city would agree.
Topping the list is seafood and traditional American spot Hooked JC, which offers salads and more.
Ironically, Jersey City’s hot new fish shack is far from the waterfront and downtown’s hipster eateries.
Hooked JC is now in soft open mode at 469 Communipaw Avenue. Prices range from $2 for Honey Jalapeño Hushpuppies to $16 for a Lobster Roll. There’s also a mix-and-match section where you can pick a meat/fish and choose to have it served in a platter, po boy style, or over salad.
Hooked JC located at 467 Communipaw Ave only a couple of blocks from Berry Lane Park, is a new seafood spot owned and run by Tory Aunspach, a long-time chef who has cooked around the world and Natalie Miniard of JCity Realty.
A meal at this BYOB urban seafood shack might start with Buffalo shrimp bites, seafood gumbo, or polenta poppers (“our bite-sized take on shrimp & grits”), then proceed to crab cakes, fried oysters, or a choice of shrimp, scallops, or three different kinds of fresh fish, any of them served blackened, fried, or grilled.
For your eating pleasure, Yelp! has rounded up a list of New Jersey’s finest culinary gems, and we made the list!
With front windows that resemble portholes on a ship and knotty pine paneling on the walls, 467 Communipaw Avenue has all the salty charm of an oceanside seafood shack only smack dab in the middle of Bergen-Lafayette.
